Clubs and Organizations
HLHOA represents the interest of the homeowners at the lake. All homeowners are encouraged to participate in this organization. Anyone who resides here, or who has obtained a building permit is eligible for membership. Two adults from each residence may be voting members after joining HLHOA. Annual dues are nominal. The HLHOA has helped to unite our community by improving communication, both within and between subdivisions. HLHOA was designed so that each subdivision has their own representative to the general council. Individual areas, as well as the HLHOA as a whole, sponsor meetings and social events, and work on local projects. In the past, topics of discussion at meetings have included Siltation, rip-rapping, dredging, clubhouse additions and fire protection. They also sponsored meetings of general interest. The continuation of this association is dependent upon new volunteers. This is a nonprofit organization not affiliated with the Heritage Lake Property Owners Association. Their purpose is to publish the Heritage Lake Telephone Book once a year and a monthly newsletter called the Heritage Highlights. The Highlights contains upcoming events in the community, a summarized report of Board meetings, personal achievements, school activities, want ads, and stories about life at the lake. These publications are financed by those businesses or professionals who advertise in the yellow pages of the telephone directory and/or the Heritage Highlights. Much volunteer work goes into this monthly newsletter, including those people involved in its writing, collating, mailing, and delivery. The Highlights keeps everyone informed of the actions and activities concerning Heritage Lake, as well as announcements of future meetings. If you would like to have the Highlights mailed to you, please send your name, address and $6.00 for postage to: Heritage Lake Community Services, Inc., c/o Marianne Ash, 335 Lincoln Hills, Coatesville, IN 4121. The Highlights will continue to be delivered to all Heritage Lake homes with blue communication boxes at not cost. The blue communication boxes are furnished at no charge and may be picked up at the POA Office. The Heritage Lake Telephone Book is updated and published once a year. This contains the names, addresses, emergency service street numbers and telephone numbers of Heritage Lake residents. Also included are emergency numbers, Putnam County office numbers, a yellow pages section, and the names of POA directors, committee chairmen, Homeowners Association officers, and Clear Creek Conservancy directors. One copy per house is distributed. Additional copies may be purchased from the POA office for a nominal fee. Call Sharon Doty at 317/627-3146 to be included in the next edition. The Heritage Lake Greeting Group welcomes new residents to Heritage Lake. Area representatives greet newcomers by providing them with various relevant materials and attempting to answer any questions. These groups of women have organized so they can participate in a nationwide program of continuing adult education through extension programs in home economics. These programs include consumer information, workshops in clothing construction, money management, nutrition, cultural arts, traffic and personal safety, and leadership skills. They also offer a chance to socialize and have fun. The following three groups are members of the Purdue University Extension Homemaker Clubs in Putnam County: Meetings are held the second Monday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in members’ homes. All new members are welcome. Activities and meetings are listed in the Heritage Highlights. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in members’ homes. The members meet monthly for a business meeting and enjoy a speaker who shares some type of gardening knowledge with the group. Objectives are to beautify Heritage Lake; promote interest in all types of gardening and to stimulate interest in design, ecology, and conservation. The Garden Club has planted the beautiful flowers and shrubs around the directional signs on Heritage Drive and the clubhouse. They also keep them watered, weeded and trimmed. Side trips are also planned to areas of special interest. If this sounds appealing, be our guest and enjoy gardening at Heritage Lake. Contact any member for more information. Their meetings are held on the second Thursday, each month, at 9:30 a.m., except in January and February, in the upper level of the clubhouse. |
